7 Dialogues | Dance On
“Inspired by Jiří Kyliáns Nederlands Dans Theater 3”
DANCE ON had not even selected choreographers or dancers when the festival invited this brand new German company to perform. This 40+ ensemble evolved, just like Jiří Kyliáns NDT3 in the past, from the realization that older dancers have specific expressive and physical qualities that make them as valuable and contributive to the art form as their younger counterparts.
In their first production, program initiator Madeline Ritter and artistic director Christopher Roman (previously associate director of The Forsythe Company) couple the six dancers of the company with six choreographers/theater makers whose unique contemporary voices resonate strongly with the dancers’ artistic strengths. The resulting solos will be curated by composer Matteo Fargion and tailored into one larger, seventh dialogue.
