Scapino Ballet Rotterdam | Cathedral
“The Scapino dancers dive in deep and emerge gloriously”
With Cathedral, Marcos Morau, a rising star in the European theatre world, has created a new large production for Scapino Ballet Rotterdam. All inspired by the music of the world-famous composer Arvo Pärt. The music will be performed live by Sinfonia Rotterdam, which contributes to the theatrical and intense character of this performance.
Morau creates international furore with its beautifully designed pieces and inventive movement language. The tour of his first performance in the Netherlands, Pablo, drew full houses. With Arvo Pärt’s spiritual music as his heartbeat, Cathedral evokes feelings about the essence of existence. About the mystery of man in the grandeur of nature and the infinite universe.
Morau places the dancers in an equally impressive stage setting with life-size video projections and a spectacular lighting design. The encounter with a metre-high meteor on stage is the enigmatic beginning of a special dance performance.
A free introduction to this performance will be given at 19:15. The introduction will take place in the foyer on the 1st floor. There is no need to make a reservation in advance.
