Jérôme Meyer and Isabelle Chaffaud host In a choreographer's skin
“A co-creative speed-lab, led by Isabelle Chaffaud and Jérôme Meyer”
Level and age: all levels & ages
Every dance performance is preceded by an exciting journey. Curious what arises during this creative process? Isabelle and Jérôme give you the unique opportunity to crawl into a choreographer’s skin and experience your ideas coming to life! Originally part of the MEYER-CHAFFAUD production SOUL#3 Co-Creation, Isabelle and Jérôme have prepared a special version of the speed-lab for the audience of Holland Dance Festival. Divided into small groups with a few fellow participants and a professional dancer, you will be fueled into co-creating a unique dance sequence. As there are countless ways of making choreography, there is nothing more to do than simply bring ‘you’: your ideas, your memories, your instincts. Knowledge of choreographing or dancing is not necessary. In fact, we leave the dancing part to professional dancers, who have been trained to attend to your ideas and find creative ways to embody them. This gives you the opportunity to have a rich experience of being a true co-creator of dance. The workshop will conclude with a showing and sharing of all the created dance sequences, instantly put together by the dancers in a surprising way.
Open for all levels. No age-limit. Come in your street clothes.
In their artistic careers, Jérôme Meyer and Isabelle Chaffaud developed from excellent dancers with leading companies like Nederlands Dans Theater 1 and Batsheva Dance Company into award-winning dancemakers whose work is performed nationally and internationally. For years, that worked within the production house of Korzo and, among other things, created choreographies commissioned by Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Introdans and the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève. With their unique and at the same time subtle approach, Jérôme and Isabelle are able to stir up an audience of dance lovers and insiders as well as winning over a new generation of theater audience. Since 2017, MEYER-CHAFFAUD operates as an independent dance producer and has been awarded a multi-year subsidy by the municipality of The Hague.
