“Popular and traditional Korean dance by ‘the Pina Bausch of Seoul’”
The Seoul born choreographer Eun-Me Ahn is a remarkably idiosyncratic artist and a wondrous figure. In articles her work is often called rebellious and provocative in the same breath. During the Holland Dance Festival Eun-Me Ahn can be seen from January 24 through 28 with her production Dancing Grandmothers, for which she traveled across her motherland and discovered that all the women she met looked happy if you asked them to dance. The pure and indestructible energy of even the elders among them inspired the young dancers of her Eun-Me Ahn Company, and so a performance was created filled with flower power, folk and electro. On Saturday January 27 the ‘Pina Bausch of Seoul’ will give a workshop of popular and traditional Korean dance.
