Workshop on the ice | Le Patin Libre | Alexandre Hamel, Pascale Jodoin, Samory Ba, Taylor Dilley, Jasmin Boivin
“Dancing on the ice”
“Cutting edge ice dance performance.” That’s what the Canadian Le Patin Libre offers. The company was founded in 2005 by former figure skate champions who explore the theatrical and choreographic potential of gliding on ice. With impressive footwork and amazing speed and elegance they expand the borders of figure skating in the 21st century. Le Patin Libre can be seen from January 23 through 27 at the Uithof with seven shows. On Wednesday January 24 the ice dancing ensemble will give a workshop on the ice.
About Le Patin Libre
Le Patin Libre is a contemporary figure skating company from Montreal (Canada) that uses ice, skating and gliding. The work of the company is regarded by some as ‘modern dance on ice’. Le Patin Libre was founded in 2005 by former figure skaters, with the goal to convert their physical ability and routines (that they had developed while figure skating) into free expression.
About the workshop on the ice
During the workshop the ice skating artists of Le Patin Libre share their unique choreographic technique, also called ‘gliding’. Under the guidance of all the skaters you will learn to master the technique as well as the basics of modern figure skating. Apart from that there is an opportunity to play around during the workshop and participate in group choreography. The workshop is suitable for beginning as well as advanced skaters.
