Black Sabbath - The Ballet | For headbangers and ballet lovers

After the successful Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (2019) and the internationally celebrated Acosta Danza (2023), the red carpet was rolled out again by Holland Dance Festival, Luxor Theater Rotterdam and Droom & Daad Birmingham Royal Ballet with Black Sabbath - The Ballet.

For four nights, Rotterdam was transformed into the heavy metal capital of the Netherlands. In the festively decorated Luxor Theater, the dancers of Birmingham Royal Ballet and the musicians of Sinfonia Rotterdam were welcomed like rock stars time and again by the audience, consisting of seasoned ballet-goers and metalheads. On the last note of the legendary Black Sabbath music, the audience rose to thunderous, ovational applause. Each evening, many metalheads returned home with a distinguished ballet program booklet in hand.

In addition to the performances, several (dance) schools participated in the outreach program. In the same week 11 dance workshops took place in cooperation with Acosta Dance Foundation.
