Feestelijke jubibleum editie van het Nederlands Balletgala door Stichting Dansersfonds'79!

Last Monday evening, 11 November, the 45th edition of the Nederlands Balletgala (Dutch Ballet Gala) took place in the presence of Princess Beatrix. The ballet gala, organised by Stichting Dansersfonds'79 of ballet legends Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar, once again showcased the top of Dutch dance during a special benefit performance in favour of young and proven Dutch dance talent. The gala evening was dedicated to Ed Wubbe, artistic director of Scapino Ballet.

Highlights of this year's gala included Hans van Manen's iconic 'ballet for two' Sarcasmen, performed by soloists from the Dutch National Ballet, Mauro Bigonzetti's dazzling Cantata (Introdans) and excerpts from Jiří Kylián's delightful Dream Dances (The Dutch Don't Dance Division) and Ed Wubbe's theatrical, energetic Le Chat Noir (Scapino Ballet Rotterdam). In addition, the Dutch National Ballet and Introdans presented other works, and the Nederlands Dans Theater, Conny Janssen Danst and the Junior Company of the Dutch National Ballet presented recent hit productions.

In addition to the glorious programme, a unique recording of Voorbij gegaan (the duet created by Rudi van Dantzig, former artistic director of the Dutch National Ballet, in 1979 for Radius and Ebbelaar's twentieth anniversary as dancers) was shown. Promising dancers Demi Bawon & Nova Valkenhoff also received their encouragement awards, Timothy van Poucke received the Special Prize and the Merit award was presented to Tim Persent as a token of praise.
The next edition of the Nederlands Balletgala will take place on Monday 24 November 2025 in the DeLaMar in Amsterdam.
