Princess Beatrix attends remarkable retrospective honouring Jiří Kylián

20 June 2025

Last night, Princess Beatrix attended Wings of Time, the opening performance of an impressive retrospective dedicated to the oeuvre of master choreographer Jiří Kylián. With over one hundred choreographic works to his name, Kylián is regarded as one of the most influential figures in contemporary dance.

Wings of Time featured a carefully curated selection of highlights from his prolific career. Works such as Forgotten Land, No More Play, Petite Mort, and Symphony of Psalms were performed with remarkable dedication and artistry by The Norwegian National Ballet. The program served as a powerful tribute to Kylián’s unmistakable contribution to the art of dance.

Upon arrival, Her Royal Highness was welcomed by Samuel Wuersten (Director of the Holland Dance Festival), Leontien Wiering (Managing Director of Amare), Carmen Thomas (Director of Kylián Productions), and of course, Jiří Kylián himself. The evening concluded with a celebratory moment on stage, where the Princess expressed her sincere appreciation for both Kylián’s work and the dancers’ performances.

The presence and heartfelt words of Princess Beatrix served as a meaningful tribute to a choreographer who has forever transformed the world of dance.
