Free online talk ‘Learn from the best’ with Wim Vandekeybus by RIDCC

10 November 2024

This Sunday, the 17th of November (from 3.00 pm - 4.15 pm), the RIDCC will once again present 'Learn from the best'. Following previous successful online talks with Hofesh Shechter, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Imre van Opstal, their next ‘Learn from the best’ will take place with choreographer Wim Vandekeybuys.

Wim Vandekeybus (1963) is a choreographer, dancer, photographer, and filmmaker who, in the mid-1980s, founded his renowned dance company, Ultima Vez. His debut, What the Body Does Not Remember (1987), won him immediate acclaim, including a Bessie Award for groundbreaking work, followed by another Bessie for Les Porteuses de Mauvaises Nouvelles (1989). Vandekeybus’ productions are evocative, interdisciplinary montages, balancing autonomy with dynamic theatricality. Live music, video, and film are integral to his performances, providing an expressive drive that has uniquely influenced modern dance in Belgium and worldwide.

In this talk, Wim will share his professional journey and life experiences, offering inspiration for aspiring choreographers, dancers, and dance enthusiasts. What has shaped his path, and which elements have contributed to his success?
