What if ADD is not just a diagnosis, but also a strength? In this new production by choreographer and Korzo house-maker Zino Schat (1989), four dancers give shape to his personal journey with ADD – from receiving the diagnosis to living in a world that doesn’t always move with you.
Blending contemporary dance, hip hop and a pulsing light show, you’ll feel what it’s like to live with a mind that never stands still.
Can you ADD something to my ADD? is timely and rooted in real stories and experiences. Zino specifically chose dancers who recognise themselves in neurodiversity, and during rehearsals invited them to explore how over- and under-stimulation manifests in their bodies. Their personal stories show different sides of ADHD: from hyperactive to hyper-focused, from wildly curious to deeply anxious. Different traits that can all exist within a single brain.
With this work, Zino has a clear mission:
“I want to create awareness, show what bubbles inside an ADD mind, and help my fellow ADD’ers feel that they are allowed to be who they are.”
Expect an intense dance performance full of confusion, sensitivity, razor-sharp movement – and perhaps even recognition.
