What if ADD isn't just a diagnosis, but also a strength? In this new performance by choreographer and Korzo resident artist Zino Schat (1989), four dancers give shape to his personal journey with ADD. Experience what it's like to live in a world that doesn't always move with you and a mind that never stands still.

The dance performance Can you ADD something to my ADD? is topical and based on real stories and experiences. Zino conducted preliminary research into over- and under-stimulation in dancers and the effects this has on their bodies. For the performance, he selected dancers who identify with neurodiversity. They show Zino's personal story and all a different side of ADD. From hyperactive to hyperfocused, from super curious to downright anxious. Different character traits that can all coexist in one brain.

With this performance, Zino has a clear mission: ‘I want to create awareness, show what's going on in an ADD mind and let my fellow ADDers feel that they are allowed to be themselves.’ Expect a stimulating dance performance full of confusion, sensitivity, crystal-clear dance and perhaps even recognition.

Zino Schat
Zino Schat (1989) is a Dutch dancer, choreographer and sound designer, and the founder of Fractal Collective. He began as a street performer and toured the world with his crew SkillDealers. His professional dance career started at AYA and Solid Ground Movement, after which he began developing himself as a choreographer as well. He has worked with Dutch National Opera, the Netherlands Wind Ensemble and Conny Janssen. Since 2020, he has been one of Korzo’s house-makers. He is also a coach and lecturer at the Academy of Theatre and Dance in Amsterdam.

Zino himself was diagnosed with ADHD later in life, after years of unexplained challenges. He says:
“My life before the diagnosis was marked by extreme fatigue, insecurity, and feelings of not being understood – by myself and by others. My school performance was problematic, while other activities that sparked my intrinsic interest led to hyperfocus and exceptional discipline. Social obligations, such as attending a birthday or giving a presentation, often resulted in overstimulation – sometimes followed by a recovery period of up to a week.”
