The Holland Dance Festival @ The Grand is making an exclusive return on Friday, March 22, and Saturday, March 23, 2024. An unique dance performance that will take place in the historical Council Chamber of the magnificent hotel, where haute cuisine and high-level dance converge.
The magnificent Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam hotel once again serves as the gorgeous decor for this evening. Formerly the headquarters of the Dutch Admiralty and the City Hall of Amsterdam, The Grand boasts a rich history. The echoes of a bygone era resonate in its halls, and the illustrious history reveals itself in the legendary service, fantastic decor, and inspiring culinary offerings. The performance unfolds in the Council Chamber, built in 1926, where you are seated at tables for two around the dancers. This intimate arrangement offers a unique opportunity to witness the individuals behind the dancers during the performance. The Codarts Dance Company, featuring international top talents from Codarts Rotterdam, takes the stage, presenting a challenging program that not only showcases the versatility of these young dancers but also weaves an enchanting collage of choreographic styles.
The program serves as an excellent introduction to the diverse palette of contemporary dance, featuring existing repertoire from international top choreographers and works specifically created for the dancers. It is a captivating, high-level show where passion and energy emanate from the stage, bringing a fresh experience every year. The dance performances are interspersed with a four-course dinner crafted by master chef Raoul Meuwese. His immense talent and unwavering pursuit of culinary excellence align seamlessly with the high gastronomic standards of the evening. Meuwese, guided by the classic French tradition with a modern twist, favors ‘subtle flavors and not too heavy dishes’.
