Do you feel like dancing? In the DanceAble classes of the Holland Dance Festival, people with and without disabilities dance together. Whether you have a physical or mild intellectual disability, a chronic condition, or you're a dancer without a disability looking for an open and exploratory approach to dance — DanceAble is the place for you!
Everyone is welcome in the DanceAble classes of the Holland Dance Festival — dancers with and without physical or mild intellectual disabilities, as well as people with chronic conditions. Each participant joins in based on their own abilities, either independently or with personal assistance if needed.
During the weekly classes, participants discover the power and value of dance — in their own unique way and together with others. The lessons are rooted in the diversity of contemporary dance and include both structured exercises and improvisation tasks.
The focus within the group is on the joy and experience of dancing. Professional dance teachers carefully consider the different needs and abilities of each participant, ensuring that the classes are accessible and easy to follow for everyone.
Dance enjoyment and shared experience are at the heart of this close-knit group. It consists of young people aged 12 and up, as well as adults. This mix creates a special, enriching dynamic in the class. There is a strong sense of mutual respect and trust. The classes take place in a safe environment where dancers typically feel at ease and free to express themselves through movement.
