On Saturday 14 June, Holland Dance Festival, Amare and Kylián Productions B.V. are organising a special and free masterclass (11.00 - 12.30), in which you can learn about the work CHAPEAU, a piece by world-renowned choreographer Jiří Kylián. Under the guidance of former NDT dancer Sarah Reynolds, you will work on an excerpt from this festive and stylish dance piece - a tribute to the former queen, Princess Beatrix.
Jiří Kylián created CHAPEAU as a tribute to Princess Beatrix on the occasion of her 25th anniversary as Queen of the Netherlands. The work, which premiered at the Holland Dance Festival on 27 October 2005, was intended as a personal and stylish gift to the queen. Inspired by her well-known passion for hats, all of the hats used in the piece are exact replicas of those in Beatrix's personal collection. The dance is accompanied by Prince's music, giving it a modern, energetic atmosphere.
What to expect:
- You will learn dance material from CHAPEAU - a work full of creativity and flair
- You will be coached by Sarah Reynolds, ex-dancer with NDT 2 as well as NDT 1
- An inspiring and energetic class in which dancing pleasure is central
A unique opportunity for everyone aged 12 to 17 to dance, learn and be inspired by the top level of the Dutch dance world. Participation is free, but registration is required.
