Holland Dance Festival shares vision for inclusive dance in guest blog CultuurSchakel
12 May 2025

From today, you can read all about our vision and commitment to dance and society in the guest blog on the CultuurSchakel website. This collaboration provides a platform to express our belief that dance is for everyone, regardless of age, background or disability.
Dance is more than movement; it is a powerful way to connect people, build confidence and express yourself freely. In this guest blog, we talk about our initiatives to make dance accessible. For example, dancers with and without disabilities come together in DanceAble, a programme that makes modern dance accessible to everyone, regardless of physical ability. Our latest project Dansontmoeting (on 25 May 2025) also focuses on equal encounters, but with young children. By connecting children through dance at an early age, Dansontmoeting contributes to a generation growing up with a natural view of inclusion.
We also organise dance projects in special education, using dance to support the emotional development and social interaction of pupils. Older people are also welcome to join us in activities such as Good [old] Times & Blijvend in Beweging, where dance provides fun, movement and connection.
This collaboration with CultuurSchakel enables us to share knowledge, exchange expertise and contribute to a more inclusive and accessible cultural sector in The Hague. We hope that the blog inspires others to think and work together towards an inclusive and vibrant cultural sector.
