On Wednesday, April 17, Irene van Zeeland, responsible for DanceAble program at Holland Dance Festival, will be a guest speaker at We are Europe in Paris
What arrangements have been made by players in the European cultural sector to welcome and include people with disabilities? Through a debate on practices from Belgium to Georgia, 'We are Europe raises the issue' of accessibility within contemporary cultural scenes.
"It is incredibly inspiring to notice that the work Holland Dance Festival is doing, together with our partners, within Europe Beyond Access is being picked up by other countries and organizations. It's so good to look at what I'm doing from a different political, social and cultural perspective. The participants' questions lead me to take a critical look myself at our approach to certain issues. Sometimes a different approach can inspire finding a different route to your goal of making performing arts more inclusive. But the best thing about this opportunity is that I get the chance to put the important work Holland Dance Festival is doing in the area of inclusion on the map beyond our borders."
During the meeting, Irene will provide the artistic context for the findings from the partnership with concrete examples of projects in which Holland Dance Festival is closely involved and demonstrate the importance of engaging artists with disabilities in Europe.
