For the twenty-seventh time, the most famous ballet couple the Netherlands has ever known — Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar — present the Dutch Ballet Gala. Once again, all the major Dutch dance companies will take the stage for this special benefit performance in support of the Dansersfonds ’79 Foundation. It’s a wonderful opportunity not only to support Dutch dance with your attendance but also to (re)discover the very best of the nation’s dance scene in a single evening.
Highlights of this festive gala evening include Woke Up Blind by Marco Goecke, performed by Nederlands Dans Theater, as well as excerpts from Jeroen Verbruggen’s The Nutcracker (Introdans) and Nanine Linning’s Anima Obscura (Scapino Ballet Rotterdam). Dancers from Dutch National Ballet and its Junior Company will also perform several works (to be announced), Introdans will present David Parsons’ iconic solo Caught, and there will be performances by Conny Janssen Danst and students of the Dutch National Ballet Academy.
On film, you’ll also see Radius and Ebbelaar themselves dancing brilliantly in Nils Christe’s exquisite duet Duo Concertant.
For over forty years, the Dansersfonds ’79, founded by Radius and Ebbelaar, has supported Dutch dancers — and those working in the Netherlands — through scholarships, special grants, Encouragement Awards, and Lifetime Achievement Prizes. The foundation relies entirely on sponsorships, private donations, and the proceeds from its annual Dutch Ballet Gala to continue its vital work for the dance community.
