Dansersfonds'79 (Dancers Fund) of former ballet stars Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar is celebrating its 45th anniversary in November with an extra festive edition of the Nederlands Balletgala. The top of Dutch dance will make its appearance during this special benefit performance for the benefit of young and proven Dutch dance talent.
Highlights during this year's gala edition include Hans van Manen's iconic 'ballet for two' Sarcasmen, performed by soloists from the Dutch National Ballet, Mauro Bigonzetti's dazzling Cantata (Introdans) and excerpts from Jiří Kylián's ravishing Dream Dances (The Dutch Don't Dance Division) and Ed Wubbes' theatrical, energetic Le Chat Noir (Scapino Ballet Rotterdam). In addition, the Dutch National Ballet and Introdans will be presenting other works, while Nederlands Dans Theater, Conny Janssen Danst and the Junior Company of the Dutch National Ballet will also be performing recent hit productions.
During the Nederlands Balletgala, you will have the opportunity to become (re)acquainted with the best of Dutch dance in one evening. In addition to all the live performances, a unique recording will be shown of Voorbij gegaan, the duet that Rudi van Dantzig, former artistic director of the Dutch National Ballet, created in 1979 for Radius and Ebbelaar's 20th anniversary as dancers. On that occasion, the couple also founded the Dansersfonds '79, which has now been active for 45 years, stimulating and supporting Dutch dancers (and dancers working in the Netherlands) with grants, prizes and special donations, among other things.
With performances by HET NATIONALE BALLET, JUNIOR COMPANY OF THE NATIONAL BALLET, NEDERLANDS DANS THEATER, INTRODANS, SCAPINO BALLET ROTTERDAM, CONNY JANSSEN DANST and THE DUTCH DON'T DANCE DIVISION.
